This village was built around the former castle previously named “the fort”. The present church is situated on the remains of this fortress. At its feet is the stream called “Toufache”.
Silkworm farming was at the foundation of the local economic development in the 19th century.
Take time to discover the artists' studios amongst the village’s narrow streets.
In the countryside around Laurac you can walk through the pinewoods and on warm and sunny days discover the beautifully typical Val de Ligne landscapes.
What to see in Laurac:
A Sarrasin tower from the 10th and 11th century
The ancient walls with their deadly past
A 19th century wash-house
The “chapeau de gendarme”, a nice picnic area alongside the Toufache.
