Vignieu Washhouses

Originally, these "gabouillons", as they were called in the region, were very basic reservoirs dug out near the streams.
There are 6 washhouses in Vignieu: Le Munard at the Etranger crossroads on Rue Beauvenir / Larrivé on Rue de la Garenne / Jubet La Combe on the Jubet la Combe road / Le Ver at the bottom of Le Rual on Rue du Ver / Les Eners at the crossroads between the main street and Rue des Eners / Les Trois Terrements on the road to La Tour du Pin.

All of the washhouses were built in the same layout, with a roof to protect the washerwomen from the rain or sun. To allow daylight through, the working area was never protected by a wall.
