Located on the plateau of the Thousand Ponds at the top of a mountain, it is the result of repeated overflows of the Moselle glacier during the glaciations. The name Corfaing comes from "faigne", mosses whose incomplete degradation constitutes peat, still visible, especially during pond emptying or in summer when the springs are no longer sufficient to supply the pond. The acidic waters and the seasonal changes, allow to observe "semi-aquatic" plants of regional interest (Narrow-leaved ribbon tree, Small yellow water lily, Littorelle unifies...) - Located in the place called of the same name.
