Description

A typical feature of the local heritage, the chalot (or chello in Vosges dialect) is an annex of the farm, used to store food, grain and alcohol such as Kirsch. They were also used

Built of wood and covered with a "laves" roof, they can be dismantled using a fully pegged assembly technique.

Nearly 325 chalots have been identified in 7 communes, including Le Val-d'Ajol, Girmont-Val-d'Ajol and Plombières-les-Bains in the Vosges, as well as communes in Haute-Saône.
