Taking the archetypal shape of a house, Gigognes encloses within it a series of modules that can easily be separated and deployed.
At a time when esthetics seem to take precedence over utility, the Gigogne Cube redefines the informal structures common to public markets and second-hand stalls, formally legitimising them and lending visual coherence to a functional setting.
Taking the archetypal shape of a house, Gigognes encloses within it a series of modules that can easily be separated and deployed. Traders are free to take out one of these structures, set it on the square, and arrange their goods on it however they like. The Gigogne cube then slots together again, embracing its modules like a treasure-box and turning into a monument once more: a place to meet, talk, share, negotiate - a modern-day urban totem. Coupled with a website of its own, it becomes the sounding board for a city that beats and pulses... a living witness to the city's activity.
