Created in 1972 by Jeanne Brotte, the Wine Museum is something unique in its kind in Lassay-les-Châteaux. Originally a museum on a small scale with traditional winemaking tools, it was expanded in 2002 and developed in 2014 with the theme of the Winemaking Professions.
Now equipped with free audio-guides, the visit to the wine cellar has become an essential and educational visit for all wine lovers passing through the region and wishing to explore the typical features of a wine region such as the Rhone Valley.
Illustrated by wonderful decorative lighting, the museum has two areas that are wholly dedicated to the winemaking professions and the methods winemakers need to master. They must first of all be farmers, at work in the vines, but also wine experts in the wine cellar.
Vine-growing and winemaking methods, tips on serving wine - everything is explained during your visit to the Brotte Wine Museum.
With rare tools, some dating back to the 14th century, here you can find a special focus on the Rhone Valley, its appellations and their typical features.
The museum is open to all visitors, whether individual visitors, groups or tourist professionals. From a free, simple non-guided visit to prestige wine-tastings via a complete group visit to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, we have a range of packages on offer, blending wine and culture.
