This imposing Romanesque monument was consecrated to the Virgin Mary in 1179.
It is linked to the history of the Sires de Beaujeu, whose tombs it housed. The remarkable rose on the façade is one of the earliest known and dates from 1175. The pillars of the 9 bays have consoles at mid-height, symbolizing vices and virtues. The arms of the Sires de Beaujeu adorn 3 keystones in the central nave. In the 14th century, the apse was raised in ogival style. The 19th-century stained-glass windows tell the story of the church's foundation, and the 4 evangelists are depicted with their emblems.
