Walking in this charming Provencal village, you can meet, in their workshops and galleries of the Arcades du Serre, many artists and artisans who came to be inspired by the calm of the Menton hinterland, with the sea in the background.
Built in 1157 on the Col de Castillon, it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times:
In 1887, it was destroyed by the terrible earthquake that shook the whole region. A new village was rebuilt a little further down. During the Second World War, the site was destroyed by bombing.
It has occupied its present location since 1951.
Between the sea and the mountains, it enjoys an atypical atmosphere...
The Provençal architecture of the stone houses with green shutters is in keeping with the more recent buildings: "Les Arcades du Serre". The whole forms a charming village which was awarded the title of most beautiful village in France in 1952.
Artists and craftsmen settled here in the 1990s.
In terms of sport, this village will enchant more than one visitor. In addition to its climbing wall, there are paths through the mountain which are perfect for discovering numerous beautiful viewpoints.
