Next to the church of Saint-Nicolas, the Musée d'Art Sacré (Sacred Art Museum) displays some 50 objects dating from the 18th to the 19th centuries, retracing the history of the village!
This unique collection (sculptures, paintings, goldsmith's and silversmith's objects, liturgical vestments) is largely the result of the generosity and faith of Saint-Nicolatains, expatriates in German-speaking countries. Between the 15th and 18th centuries, the difficulties of life in the mountains prompted some inhabitants to leave for Germany or Italy, to earn a living as peddlers or craftsmen. Some of them succeeded in establishing themselves as bourgeois merchants in Europe's major cities. They then made substantial donations to their parishes of origin, contributing to the wealth of decorations in the region's churches and chapels!
The "Vivre en Savoie du Nord" exhibition can be viewed on the museum floor from June 21, 2024 to May 4, 2025.
For families, 7 errors games and booklets are available at the reception desk to help you discover the collections in a fun way!
During the vacation season, guided tours of the church and sacred art museum are usually held on Fridays at 3pm, and guided tours of the museum are available all year round on request.
Outside these periods, the Musée d'art sacré is open by appointment.

Completely renovated after 2008, this museum presents the valley's religious tradition in connection with the history of its inhabitants, particularly its pedlars.
The treasury is the collection of precious objects and documents kept in a church. Bernard Grandjacques tells us about the treasure in the parish of Saint-Nicolas: "During the troubled times of the Revolution, Reverend David, the parish priest, decided to hide it in a farmhouse in Nant Blanchet, suggesting that he had taken it with him into exile. It wasn't until the 1950s that it resurfaced and found a home in the presbytery. Today, the Museum of Sacred Art houses a large number of gold and silver objects, paintings, sculptures and liturgical textiles that belonged to the church, but also to the surrounding chapels.
