The Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge or German Military Graves Maintenance Service was charged by the German Government to design this regrouping military necropolis for the victims of The 2nd World Wa at the beginning of the 60’s .
As an old American-German graveyard, it exclusively became German aftter the War and the burial of American soldiers at Saint-Avold. Five thousands German soldiers stayed on board end of 1944 .
Starting in 1957, the Volksbund started to search and regroup in Andilly the corpses of German soldiers in eleven departments around Andilly.
And so, with more than thirty-three thousands graves, it is the widest german military graveyard created in France, in Andilly.
