Augustinian Well (Place Chanoz)
This well used to stand in the Augustinian enclosure. It is 17.3 metres deep and measures 1.2 metres across. The first 6 or 7 metres are in masonry and the deeper part is pierced through the rock. In 1993, the water level reached 13 metres at the end of February. The height of the well was raised when a square rim was added during improvement work on Place Chanoz. It has not been used since the 1950s.
Well on Place Grenette
Very little is known about the construction of this very old stone well which stands on a rim. It is 17 metres deep and the first 5 metres are in masonry. It measures 2.1 metres across and several years of monitoring have confirmed that the water level remains at a constant 3 metres below the surface.
Well at the Giraud building
On Rue Blanche, this well stands fifteen metres or so from where the old hospital (1450) was located, suggesting that it belonged to the hospital.
Its ground rim was placed directly on the rock. It measures 1.7 metres across and 15.65 metres in depth, with the water level reaching 13.25 metres. At the bottom of the well, there is a small cavity and a crack running vertically for 7 to 8 metres.
The well was raised when improvement work was carried out at the small square. Some of the ancient lead sealings are visible.
