The Black Woodpecker

Pic noir (Dryocopus martius)
Credit : J-J. Boujot

Description

Large woodpecker with the appearance of a black crow, the black woodpecker imposes by its size. Its uniform color, with the exception of the red cap, more or less wide according to sex, and its impressive ivory beak make it easily distinguishable from other peaks. It can be observed more easily during parades, from March to April, or during the dispersal of young people in September.
