The national necropolis of Choloy-Ménillot was created between 1914 and 1924 and was designed in three parts. The first one is the French cemetary composed by the graves of 1079 soldiers : 1926 French(14-18), 1 British, 49 Polish, 6 Romanian, 86 Russian, 2 Serbian and 9 other French(39-45).
The 2nd part is the British military cemetary including corpses of 461 English, Canadian, New Zealand, South African and Indian soldiers.
The third part is the garrison military cemetery where the corpses of 49 muslim French soldiers are burried.
All those soldiers were joined by 57 civilians, members of families who got the right to be burried by their sides.
