A few kilometres from the village of Saint-Floret, the salt spring of the Tête de Lion is dominated by an impressive limestone concretion with a feline profile.
The "Lion's Head" is made up of a rock called travertine resulting from the continuous deposit of limestone carried by the water. The latter, which comes from infiltrations that descend into the basement and which, in contact with recent volcanic chambers, have warmed up and become charged with carbon dioxide.
The access path borders the nearby Couze Pavin.
Free access.
