Church of the eleventh and early twelfth century. Perched on the hills of Saint -Cydroine this is a marvel of Romanesque art.
This is the 3rd century a young Christian named Sidronius (hence Cydroine saint) was martyred here by the Romans. At the place where he was beheaded , a source with miraculous powers have sprung became a place of pilgrimage in the Middle Ages.
On the altar we see a painting of the martyrdom of Saint Cydroine .
This church was a priory , founded by the monastery of La Charité-sur -Loire. She has the distinction of having a beautiful two-story octagonal tower .
The long and sober nave leads to the transept and the choir that form a Greek cross ( quite exceptional in the Yonne ) .
