Château d'Ernemont-sur-Buchy

Description

The castle and its outbuildings are located in the heart of a small village that has preserved a remarkable built heritage including not only its church but also a manor house from the beginning of the 17th century, the hospice of the congregation of the sisters of Ernemont founded in the 17th century by Barthélémy de Saint-Ouen, a bread oven, a brick factory as well as a covered well and its rare mechanism.

Visitors can take a tour of the village which ends in the park of the castle whose architecture is typical of the late 18th century.

The woodwork on the second floor in the Louis XVI style has remained mostly intact since the construction of the castle until today
At a time when the Queen's hamlet is being revived, it is interesting to find in the Normandy countryside an example of the art of living and the atmosphere that preceded the Revolution.

The room of the mistress of the house has a set of panelling resembling that of the Petit Trianon so dear to Marie-Antoinette. The castle has a portrait of Marie Antoinette, a copy of the original painted by Kucharski in the Temple prison, along with a tiny sample of her widow's dress.
