Description

The Château de Ségur-le-Château, currently being restored, stands on a steep spur overlooking the village and the Auvézère River. Originally, it was a "castrum", a term used to designate the residence of viscounts and the lodgings of comrades-in-arms. During the 15th and 16th centuries, the complex underwent major architectural modifications that altered the original structure.
The 1st enclosure leads to a vast courtyard, where a fortified Renaissance house and a 15th-century mansion still stand. The 2nd enclosure, protected by thick fortified walls, includes the remains of the keep and Notre-Dame chapel.
