Commune de Dordogne, Flaugeac est un village d’origine médiévale sis près des rives de la Gardonette et de la Mescoulette.
Il y a un siècle, Flaugeac était encore la localité de la région la plus importante du point de vue religieux. En effet, au XVIe siècle, l’antique archiprêtré de Gageac y a été transféré et, jusqu’à la fin de l’Ancien Régime, Flaugeac a la prééminence sur 59 paroisses.
