Built in the 14th century the castle was restored on the 17th and 18th century. The castle is composed with a main building, with "dauphinois" rooftops, a round tower, a chapel stuck to a medieval tower, and a courtyard.
Overlooking the valley of La Tour-du-Pin, nestled in the heart of more than 200 hectares of forests, meadows and ponds, the Vallin Castle, a haven of peace and greenery, offers a preserved natural setting. Built in the 14th century, by the Vallin family who owned it directly for five centuries, it is a private historic residence, was partly redesigned and embellished in the 18th century. The murals in the neo-Gothic lounge and romantic dining room are unique in the area, as is the fountain and the tuff cave fireplace. In the park, the linden alley, with its 300 meters of length, its 70 magnificent trees and its 2 alleys of charmiles and romantic holly, the majestic cedars of Lebanon, offer a preserved natural setting. Located on the edge of the Vallin forest, the property can be the starting point of various family hikes.
For twenty years, the Vallin Castle has been the subject of a major restoration campaign that has earned it the labels "Patrimoine Historique" and "Patrimoine en Isère" as well as national awards "VMF-Jeunes" in 2000 and "VMF-Barclays Bank" in 2011.
The building has obtained the label "Heritage in Isère",
rewarding the heritage quality of a building of departmental interest.

Although the Vallin family appears early in the texts, in the entourage of the Virieu, branch of Faverges, it was only in 1328 that Girard de Vallin acknowledged holding in fief from the Dauphin, his manse of Chataignier, except for the homage he owed to the lord of Vinay (coseigneur of La Tour-du-Pin). There is no mention of the fortified house itself in the tributes and acknowledgements that follow, until 1540 when it is mentioned for the first time. The de Vallin family still owned the castle during the French Revolution; it was looted in July 1789 during the troubles of the "Great Fear", then partly restored by Laurent de Vallin immediately after the revolutionary turmoil. The Vallin castle stands on the edge of a plateau (500 meters above sea level) defended on its western flank by a steep escarpment. The slope is less steep, but still present to the north, overlooking the Trièves flatlands dotted with ponds. On the east and south sides, fields and meadows have been organized by a series of walls and courtyards protecting the heart of the buildings. Arriving from the south, where the main entrance is located, one encounters a gateway, a long driveway and a dwelling forming a porch, giving access to the courtyard of honour. To the west of the courtyard is the old dwelling and its arched retaining walls. To the east is the chapel, flanked by a tower. Another gate opens onto a large bridle path lined with lime trees.
Nicknamed the "Castle of Books", Vallin has also become one of the major book centers in the Vals du Dauphiné and Nord Isère regions, organizing numerous events around books and the written word. We can host family events (christenings, weddings, reunions, rallies, birthdays), as well as business and association events (seminars, receptions, exhibitions, product presentations), in an exceptional setting: romantic dining room, company lounge, courtyard of honor, lime tree alley. Marquees for up to 500 people available.
