The house of Andoins called "Jeanne d'Albret" was built in 1593 by the merchant Guillaume d'Andoins. It has a tower, housing a stone spiral staircase, like the two other beautiful residences of Gan (Marca and Arrac). The date 1593 is also engraved inside the house, on the mantelpiece.
Corisande d'Andoins, whose name the adjacent street bears, mistress of Henri IV, was not related to the Andoins of Gan.
Born and died in Hagetmau, she never came to Gan.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Gan's first postcards named it "Maison Jeanne d'Albret"... She died in 1572, long before the construction of this house!
