25 km from Agen, on the Lot-et-Garonne and Tarn-et-Garonne borders, Saint-Maurin, a "village of character", welcomes you to the Pays de Serres, nestled in a green valley where the Escorneboeuf river flows. To reach the entrance to the abbey museum, located in the center of the village, wander through the charming alleyways with their half-timbered houses.
In a series of vaulted cellars, the remains of Saint-Maurin Abbey - a member of the national federation of Cluniac sites - house a museum of rural life and trades in the early 20th century. The professions of cooper, clog maker, blacksmith and winemaker are on display, with old tools, machines and sometimes surprising objects, such as a period toaster and barbecue, or a one-piece terracotta watering can.
