The original Château de Varey was destroyed during the French Revolution and lay in ruins for almost 65 years. It was renovated during the mid 19th century and the Dervieu family who lived there before the revolution took up residence once again from 1873. However, the château’s grounds are open to visitors throughout the summer season and are a lovely place for a stroll.
