Housed in a modern building opened in 1973, the museum has three displays linked to local history - the arrest of the royal family; popular arts, crafts and traditions; and the First World War with fighting in the Argonne area (including mine warfare).
The "Marie-Antoinette" room has 9 paintings showing the queen at various ages and a relief map of Varennes in 1791.
Temporary exhibition: "In honour of the local people who have brought Varennes back to life from 1919 to the present day".
Allow 1 hr for the visit.
Open all year with advance booking for groups of 30+. No charge for driver and courier.
