SAINT RICHARDE CHAPEL OF THE ETIVAL CLAIREFONTAINE ABBEY

Flamboyant gothic art is well represented in this chapel dedicated to Saint-Richarde. A shrine placed on its altar contained the relics of the Saint. She was founder of the Andlau monastery and in the 9th century she installed 13 canons and 1 provost in Etival which then lost its independence to the Alsatian monastery. The painting on the shrine is from Claude Bassot. It represents Saint-Richarde enduring the fire test.
