Trip to the Boyne Valley: Celtic legends and relics

Description

Discover Ireland's historical relics in County Meath, north-west of Dublin. Explore sacred sites such as Loughcrew, the Hills of Tara and Uisneacht, and Trim Castle !

EXPLORE COUNTY MEATH AND IRELAND'S MOST ANCIENT PLACES WITH THIS TOUR. THIS AREA IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE 'ROYAL COUNTY' AS IT WAS THE RESIDENCE OF THE HIGH KINGS OF IRELAND. DISCOVER THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL TREASURES OF THE BOYNE VALLEY, WHICH IS LISTED AS A UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE.
You will begin your trip  in The Hill of Tara, where your guide will tell you all about the history of the hill and the kings that reigned from this site for centuries before continuing your tour towards the village of Slane. There you will find a mysterious church that holds secrets from the 18th century. Listen to your guide's stories of supernatural phenomena that have taken place in this church.
You will then take the bus to the old town of Trim where you will discover Trim Castle, dating back over 800 years. This Anglo-Norman castle, the biggest and best-preserved in the country, was granted to Hugh de Lacy, the Lord of Meath during the rule of King Henry II.
After lunch you will take the bus to the sacred town of Loughcrew where you will find thirty stone tombs that date back over 6000 years. Go inside the tomb of legendary Irish King, Ollamh Fodhla, and admire the ancient Celtic engravings.
You will then go to the Ancient Hill of Uisneacht, the spiritual center of Ireland, the point at whch the five provinces of the country met and where their Kings would celebrate the ‘festival of the fires’.
