The Alfageme arrived in Vigo from Asturias. They decided to move their factory from Candás to Vigo in 1873. At that time, the modern canning industry began to develop in Vigo, with tinplate containers.
Instead of building a large residential building, the Alfageme family decided to maintain the old tradition of the salt industry and built one of the best examples of industrial architecture with their family home near the main entrance to the factory.
The construction project was carried out by the Vigo architect Manuel Gómez Román in 1928. The initial project was slightly altered due to the new needs of the company, so that with the modification the building gains height and its façade composition is slightly altered, the most notable features of the building are its two granite façades (one towards Tomás Alonso and the other towards the sea), which contain all the compositional effort, and stand out for being equal and symmetrical. There are three flat bodies finished off by stepped gables marked by the linearity of the moulding.
