At the end of the 11th century, Gautier I, count of Brienne, gave the church of Essoyes to the abbey of Molesme which, in 12354, concluded an act of pariage with Thibaut IV, count of Champagne, for seigneuries that she possessed at Essoyes, Verpillieres, and Poligny. Neo-Gothic church built from 1856 to 1862. Church with Latin cross plan; nave with 3 vessels with 3 bays; pentagonal apse; porch tower at the west entrance.
