One of the most spectacular landscapes of the Galician coast, with the impressive Monte Pindo rising majestically at 627m above the Atlantic.
The cascade of the river Xallas, in Ézaro, precipitates 40 m, being unique in Europe. In the town of Carnota is the largest Hórreo of Galicia with 35 m long. And the infinite beach of Carnota with its 7 km of fine sand.
Here is the Marine Reserve of Fishing Interest Os Miñarzos. Above all, it highlights the mouth of the Valdebois river in Boca do Rio, idyllic place and refuge of a great variety of species during the migration and winter season, highlighting the large number of waders. In this beach breeds the scarce and protected kentishplover.
At the southern end is the town of Lira and its large fish farm, where the outlet of the water pipe to the beach, is a good place to enjoy a large number of leegdgulls feeding.
The whole zone has several protection figures, ZEC within the Natura 2000 Network, ZEPVN, Priority Area of Threatened birdlife and is within the Plan of Conservation of the kentishplover.
The main points of interest for bird watching are the intertidal zone of Boca do Rio and the areas near the mouth of the beach, the dune system and the Lira fish farm.
In the sea, with telescope, we can look forgreat northerndivers and commonscoters. The best season of the year is between September and March, kentishplover being present all year round.
