The Natural Reserve of Dunes and Marsh of Hourtin is an area of 2150 ha, which presents all the scenery of the Aquitaine sandy coast: beaches, dunes, forest of pines and oaks, swamps and lake!
The management of this area is entrusted to the National Forestry whose personal undertake surveillance, scientific monitoring and public reception.
You can discover this site from various hiking trails, horseback or bicycle (departures at Contaut, Piqueyrot and Hourtin beach). Note the Education Trail Lagoon Contaut where the visitor crosses the marsh on a beautiful wooden platform (accessible platform motor and visual disabilities).
Guided tours are also offered free throughout the year for school and general public: don't hesitate to register directly from Médoc Ocean!
