Towards the end of the 11th century, a college of canons was instituted to bring rigour back into the life habits of the Saint-Emilion religious. A convent with its cloister and a Romanesque church was then erected, which became the collegiate church. Erected in the 12th century, the nave, as well as its porch surmounted by a shaved bell tower, have retained their Romanesque style.
The choir dates from the 14th century and houses a listed organ, the only instrument built in 1892 by Gabriel Cavaillé-Coll, son of the famous organ builder of the 19th century, Aristide Cavaillé-Coll.
