The commune of Castets-en-Dorthe is located at the confluence of the Garonne and its lateral canal. At the beginning of the 20th century, the construction of a bridge over the river was a great step forward for the town. The construction of the lateral canal under Louis-Philippe gave rise to the need for a link between the two banks for the passage of freight. The bridge was therefore built in 1905. It is sometimes called "Eiffel Bridge", even if the very famous engineer is not the author of this work. It is from the deck of the bridge that the junction of the Garonne and the canal is best seen from the best angle, with the corresponding difference in level of the water bodies.
