Built in the 12th century, the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste is one of the most beautiful in Chalosse. The Romanesque apse is decorated with 4 fine arcatures. Four of the five bays located above are now walled. The apse is supported by four buttresses. Like many Landes churches, the church was fortified in the 14th century. In 1435, a funerary and votive chapel was built against the north side of the church. A true Gothic masterpiece, the stone lacework of the arcatures and lancets preciously decorate this austere entrance. Its furnishings are remarkable: a stone pulpit and a wooden staircase, capitals and vaulting on cul-de-lamps illustrated with finely sculpted figures, a majestic altarpiece and high altar of polychrome wood... and even a well. Note also the beautiful sculptures of the tombs and keystones which are stored in the nave.
