La sauveté de Garbachet, Christophe Doucet, Brocas, 2013. programmation : Didier Arnaudet
In the Middle Ages, a "sauveté" was a refuge area drawn around a church by several bollards. Within this perimeter, it was forbidden to pursue fugitives. Without encumbering or confiscating it, Christophe Doucet took possession of a one-hectare plot of land, situated around a hut and a well, delimited by four columns positioned at each cardinal point, built in local stone and topped with a cast aluminium rabbit's ear, listening to the most secret breaths. Recorded in the land register, this place thus gives the measure of this singular protection, coming from a distant time, and invites one to experience its extent, in perpetual movement, and its capacity to affirm the real and fictional variety of its resources.
