Casteljaloux’s influence was greatly increased thanks to its link with the Cadets de Gascogne or Younger Sons of Gascony regiment and with the different members of the illustrious Albret family. The town became the capital of a vast Gascon state, stretching from the Pyrenees to Quercy, and enjoyed a much-envied increase in prosperity.
