Two reconstitutions plunge us into the history of rural schools: the "Guizot" class, Minister of Public Instruction who in 1833 passed a law organising primary education; the "Jules Ferry" class, Minister from 1879 to 1883 and instigator of free, secular and compulsory schooling, laying the foundations of the traditional school which lasted for much of the 19th century
One can discover the characteristic furniture of each period, rare books among which a geography of 1839 where the south-eastern part of Africa is only mentioned by "unknown country"! or those famous panels against alcoholism described by Pagnol.
