The site of Beffery is unquestionably the seat of a very ancient habitat. At the end of the 13th century, there is mention of two brothers called "Amanevus and Bernardus de Becferri". The church suffered greatly from Huguenot vandalism during the Wars of Religion. The interior of the church has only one nave, fully vaulted, without aisles. At the end of the nave, a statue of St. Stephen is enthroned. In the choir, a white marble altar stands out against the circular background of the building. The vault was painted by the Italian painter Mazutti. In a blue sky, three choirs of angels seem to watch over the earth, while at the very top, a dove seems to impregnate it with the divine spirit. Two windows illuminate the whole. Do not hesitate to walk around the church and you will discover a sundial at the back.
