An imposing Sully's linden tree, a remarkable Auvergne tree planted during the reign of King Henry IV, has been at the heart of the village of Saint-Santin-Cantalès since the 16th century.
Sully, the famous minister, had linden trees planted in most of the parishes of the kingdom of France so that they would be a place of community gathering for the announcement of royal edicts, the rendering of legal decisions, and exchanges about local affairs. Most often planted near the church, the Sully linden trees that still exist in France are therefore four hundred years old.
