Romanesque church of the 12th century, it presents several phases of reworking: sculpted capitals of the 14th century at the level of the chevet, a restoration of the bell tower in the 19th century for example. Interesting point: sarcophagi from the XIth-XIIIth century, funerary slabs and baptismal funds with double vats from the beginning of the XVIIth century.
We find here a rather rich washhouse dating from 1900, having three stone walls, a tile roof, and an adjustable floor according to the height of the water arm.
This water mill dates from the 19th century. Others are in the surrounding villages like Ussolière.
The building that we see now dates from the XIVth and especially the XVIIIth century. The building has indeed evolved over the centuries. The original architectural plan presented four towers that flanked three wings of the castle. Two towers are still preserved and one of them still has the marks of the defense architecture. It was here that Eleonore Desmier d'Olbreuse, nicknamed the grandmother of Europe (thanks to the various marriages of her descendants) was born. It is a private property, but it is possible to make guided tours during the summer.
This windmill dates from 1826. It can also be found in the village of Ussolière.
Don't hesitate to visit the exhibition retracing the various archaeological discoveries from the site of Usseau (Merovingian cemetery) as well as the incredible history of the Olbreuse family. Pierre-Henri Mitard was a historian who was very involved in the historical research related to the discoveries of the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st century. The site is open on Wednesday and Friday from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.
