N°33b - Lac du Montagnon par Aydius

To reach the starting point, follow the road to Quartier des Salars, which turns left before reaching the village of Aydius. Continue on this road passing above the village, cross the Pont des Salars bridge, and proceed to the "espace du col de Lasserre" parking. From here, follow the Béranguel path on foot, cross the stream to take the Labays path, and continue to the Pée Nouqué parking area.

Cross an electric fence, possibly installed by the shepherd (make sure to close the passage correctly using the handles provided!); cross the l'Arigalos stream and ascend in short zigzags.

Continue the trail that goes deeper into the beech forest.

Continue ascending on the trail through this heathland and reach the plateau with the watering trough and the Cure and det Cam huts.

Proceed straight south after the watering trough on the trail that ascends to the left of the axis of the grassy valley, bordered on the right by the cliffs of Montagnon d'Iseye and on the left by the slopes of Pic Lasnères; reach the Col de la Taillandère.

From the col, explore slightly above and 20 m to the left a rock marked with scratches that are not natural: the Tallandères. Return to the col, cross south on the trail descending into a basin and ascend southeast towards a landmark.

Turn right south towards the next landmark, at the intersection of a route coming from Col de Besse along the ridge delineating Plateau de Besse and plateau d'Arriutort.

Continue ascending left towards the south, ascend through the scree and just after towards the west; reach the grassy threshold of Le pas de l'Escala.

A small lake further down to the southwest announces the threshold of Lake Montagnon, whose mysterious heart-shaped form raises questions...

Strictly return by the same route as on the way out, avoiding carefully the slabs of l'Escala via the old, restored pastoral path for added safety.
