Billère - Les Rives du Gave

From the Gravière car park, take the path in front of the wooden "Guinguette." After 600m of walk on this path, make a tree quarter turn on your left to join the path along the edge of the gave. After a few minutes, find the wooded picnic area in front of the guinguette. Pass near a playground then the restaurant and reach the footbridge that connects Billère to Jurançon. Cross the gave, turn left and continue along the left bank by a well-equipped greenway. Continue until you reach Avenue du Corps Franc Pommiès; the greenway is interrupted, continue on the sidewalk, pass in front of a car wash then turn left towards the base of Eaux Vives.

Go straight along the buildings to pass under the Pont d'Espagne (bridge). Then go left to the Gave, go up it by the greenway which crosses the Marsan gardens following the canal. Cross the private passage of the restaurant “A la maison” to reach the chimney of the old Roussille soap factory. Go near the wash house and the Square Péguillan and go up the street to the intersection. Turn left and cross just before the 14 Juillet bridge, using the pedestrian crossing. Continue left over the bridge then turn right at Place de la Monnaie. Continue straight ahead and cross Avenue Jean Biray (pedestrian crossing) then turn left. Pass under the wooden arbor and cross the canal by the bridge (n°2) then turn left to go towards the lift of the Monnaie tower.

Take the elevator. Arrive at the southern gardens of the castle; follow them to the left to the statue of Gaston Fébus. Reach the Basse Plante, the first park, by the Nemours bridge which spans rue Marca. Continue straight, cross a footbridge at the Maison Baylaucq (museum) and arrive at the castle park. Turn left after the boxwood plateau to climb the mound via the Allée du Roy (viewpoint). Stay on this balcony with belvederes, ignoring the paths that go to the right. Arrive at a junction, take the path that descends to the left and passes above the road tunnel. Turn left at the end of the railing and take the small passage with steps to reach the Pont d'Espagne.

Turn right and go down to the level of the Berges du Gave by the metal staircase. The well laid out path winds between the river and the Billère golf course created in 1856. Pass under a water pipe and go to the small bridge over the Ousse canal. After a short climb, continue along the golf course then at a fork descend to a path by the water. As you approach the red footbridge, turn right towards the entrance to the Berges du Gave (large stones) then left towards the car park.
