The former gate to the town and the only remains of the old ramparts, this imposing 14th century monument is almost intact.
It has a covered passageway made of medium-sized stones, with a semi-circular arch opening. The construction is crowned with a hoarding and has gabled machiolations which are purely decorative. Under the passageway, to the right, there is a fountain which is clearly fairly recent. The gate was closed from the inside by a portcullis, which has since disappeared. A staircase still provides access to the wall walk, but it was renovated fairly recently and the first steps are missing.
