The St Romain Chapel is located in Jongieux-le-Haut, on a hill, close to a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the plainof Rhone and the vineyard. Recent building dating from 1995, it was made on the initiative of a villagers' association created in 1989. Joncieux village.
You will be amazed by the scenery that appears before your eyes : in the foreground, you can distinguish the vineyard, but also the meanders of the Rhone River and the plain of Yenne, and in the background, the mountains of Ain and Avant-Pays Savoyard. Situated in the heart of the Jongieux-Marestel winegrowing site, at the foot of the chapel that bears its name, this picnic stop features an orientation table offering a breathtaking view.From the site, look out over the Rhône, the Ain and Savoie mountains such as Mont de la Charvaz and the legendary Dent du Chat. The picnic stop is on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.
A vineyard covering 250 hectares, largely huddled around the village of Joncieux, situated between the river Rhône and the Mont de la Charvaz. It stretches between the village of Billième, Joncieux, Lucey, St Jean de Chevelu and Yenne.
The Chapel of Lagneux features 15th century architectural details. Renovated in 2007 and 2008, it got its little steeple and ironwork elements back, which had been melted down for war requirements. It shelters a wooden pieta that has also been renovated. Yenne village.
