It was formerly the port of goods that became since 1983 a marina. Between xvie and xixe centuries, in the location of the pond, raises itself an arsenal which gave him his name. With the increase of the traffic of barges on the Saint-Martin canal during the xixe century and a big part of the xxe century, the pond of the Arsenal became an important commercial harbor of Paris. Of a length of 600 m, the pond facilitates the load and the unloading of the goods, essentially the wine, the wheat and the wood.
The canal contains several ponds: pond of the Deaths; pond of the Fight; pond Louis-white; pond of Récollets; pond of Swamps ("bassin des Morts ; bassin du Combat ; bassin Louis-Blanc ; bassin des Récollets ; bassin des Marais"); they are separated by five locks among which four are double: lock of La Villette (no 1 and 2); lock of the Deaths (no 3 and 4); lock of the Récollets (no 5 and 6); lock of the Temple (no 7 and 8); lock of the Arsenal (no 9).
The Saint-Martin canal is then covered from the boulevard Jules-Ferry (vault of the Temple realized in 1907). It passes then under the boulevard Richard-Lenoir (vault Richard Lenoir built between 1860 and 1862), and finally under the place of the Bastille (vault of the Bastille realized in 1862) to open on the port of the Arsenal. Vaults Richard Lenoir and of the Temple are drilled of oculi of ventilation. They also allow the natural lighting of the tunnel.
The footbridge of Customs (so called footbridge of the Temple and the footbridge of Douanes-et-du-Temple) is a pedestrian footbridge. It crosses the pond of the Marais of the Saint-Martin canal, near the locks of the Temple. It is situated in the continuation of the street Léon-Jouhaux, between the quay(platform) of Valmy and the quay of Jemmapes, at the end of the public garden Frédérick-Lemaître.

The footbridge Richerand crosses the pond of the Marais of the Saint-Martin canal at the level of the avenue Richerand in left bank, and of the street Jean-Poulmarch, of the street of Marseille and the street Beaurepaire in right bank. The footbridge is established by two big reconstituted welded beams forming crutches and lifeline of the apron, the staircases of access are half fitted out on piles of masonry on both sides of the canal and half between the big beams.
The bridge crosses the pond of the Marais of the Saint-Martin canal, downstream to the locks of Récollets, near the footbridge of Grange-aux-Belles. It connects the quay of Valmy at the level of the street of Lancry in right bank with the quay of Jemmapes at the level of the street of Grange-aux-Belles, to whom he owes his name.

The footbridge Bichat crosses the pond of Récollets, upstream to the locks of Récollets, near the garden Villemin. It connects the quay of Valmy in right bank with the quay of Jemmapes at the level of the street Bichat, to whom she owes her name.

The set, the footbridge and bridge, was completely renovated during the summer, 2011.
The bridge of the street of Ourcq is a bridge crossing the canal of Ourcq, in the 19th district of Paris.
