On this same circuit, on 17 July 1998, the German cyclist and great favourite Jan Ullrich won the seventh stage of the Time Trial! He finished the race with a disconcerting ease, clocking an impressive time of 1 h 15 min and 25 s., which allowed him to wear the famous and highly coveted Yellow Jersey... ! In the overall classification, Jan Ullrich finished in Paris on the podium in 2nd place!
We invite you to go back in time by following the official route of the 1998 Tour de France. Get on your bike and wake up the rider in you! The 57.1 km long route is winding and rather hilly.
After leaving Saint-Augustin, you will pass through the villages of Madranges, Chaumeil, Sarran, Vitrac-sur-Montane, Corrèze and Mérignac-l'Eglise in the heart of the Massif des Monédières.
