Depart in the direction of Bec Margain to join the paths along the cliffs overlooking the Grésivaudan valley. After a diversion through the hamlet of Tournoud, you'll reach the Pas du Facteur and from there begin the descent to Craponoz.

This route, typical of Le Plateau des Petites Roches, will take you along the cliffs overlooking the Grésivaudan valley, where you can enjoy magnificent views of the neighbouring Belledonne massif.

At 2100 meters, the refuge of La Pra, close to the many clear lakes of the Massif Belledonne, will delight anglers, hikers and families. La Pra is also a wonderful pasture where you can encounter marmots, wild sheep and ibex. Getting there : 1/ at the car park of Pré Raymond, take the forest road then a trail to the left (southeast). Some laces lead you to an almost horizontal path that allows you to get out of the forest. Cross the stream before reaching the dam and the Lac du Crozet. Follow the path along the lake and walk up the valley of Mercier to the Col de la Pra. At the mountain pass, turn right (south) and get to the refuge located 5 minutes from the Col de la Pra. 2/ In Chamrousse, from the car park at the foot of the Grande Aiguille, follow the GR of Pays then pass between the lakes (path GR 738). Climb back up slightly before descending into the valley of l'Echaillon. Leave on your left the path to the waterfalls of l'Oursière, then on your right the path to the lake David. Climb back to Lake Leama and reach lakes Longet and Claret. Climb to the ledge where you will find the refuge. 3/ At the Recoin de Chamrousse, take the path GR 738 to reach the lakes Robert. You'll discover the magnificent Dioux waterfall on the Tour des Petites Roches trail, near the old Porte Traine mill (in Saint Hilaire du Touvet).

You can see the Porte Traine mill on the Tour des Petites Roches hike, close to the Dioux waterfall. It is one of the oldest buildings on the plateau.

This museum halving spaces, the one dedicated to the ibex and the other one to the story of the crash of Sir Trafford Leigh-Mallory's plane on November 14th, 1944 above the Rivier d' Allemont.Free entrance This exhibition centre is dedicated to the ibex, the animal that has come to symbolize Alpine wildlife. Its preservation, morphology, habitat and food throughout the seasons, together with the scientific monitoring are all explained via an attractive museum design, films, games and panels. The York Mallory Centre recounts the mysterious plane crash above the Allemond river in November 1944 that led to the death of the British Air Chief Marshall Sir Trafford Leigh-Mallory, who had been responsible for coordinating air operations during the Normandy landings in 1942. Mountain church with a typical Dauphin porch bell tower, featuring 8 stained glass windows, created by the painter Arcabas and realized by the master glass artist Christophe Berthier. The church of Sappey-en-Chartreuse has been a symbolic landmark for nearly nine centuries, at the entrance to a mountain range marked by religious spirituality. Attested on the site since 1115, the building was redesigned in the 17th century and then in the 19th century with the help of the monks of the Grande Chartreuse. The eight stained glass windows that adorn the church are the work of Arcabas. They represent the Resurection of Christ and were made by Christophe Berthier, a master glass artist from Grenoble.

This is the largest high-altitude marsh in the Chartreuse Park. It is made up of three natural environments: orchid meadows, reed beds and scattered willow woodlands. The Marais des Sagnes is located a little way out of town, in a valley below the hamlet of Les Sagnes. It offers a mosaic of wetlands: reedbeds, orchid meadows and willow groves of high biological value. The site lies on the edge of the forested slopes of the Ecoutoux, in a traditional mid-mountain agricultural landscape. The marsh is home to numerous species of mammals, amphibians and birds, such as the Roe Deer and the Common Snipe. It is also home to protected plants such as the Marsh Ragwort and the beautiful Traunsteiner's Orchid.

Up on Saint Eynard fort, you are overlooking Grenoble, tightly clang on to the bicentennial stones of the military fort. Defying gravity and vertigo, you are in position to challenge Belledonne summits, face to face. You may feel like a reckless warden of this proud sentinel -watching the city nested down in the valley, with winding Isère river. Overlooking Grenoble from the Saint Eynard (1338m), it's like clinging to the two-hundred-year-old stones of this military construction, feet in the air. It's to defy - without feeling dizzy - the snow-capped peaks of the Belledonne mountains in front of you, to feel invincible, guardian of the proud sentinel dominating the city nestled below, and to follow the Isère river coiled within. To feel Corenc, Montbonnot and Meylan small, nestling at the foot of the Chartreuse massif. Ignore the Vercors, a little too far away in the landscape. Finally, in summer and winter alike, soak up the fresh air, stop for a break at the Fort's restaurant, then discover the history of this military heritage, and share a unique viewpoint with the men, soldiers and architects who preceded us here.

Rehabilitated between 1991 and 1995 and open to the public, the Saint-Eynard fort offers a beautiful view of the Belledonne massif, the Grésivaudan valley and Grenoble. A permanent exhibition on the life of the garrison at the fort awaits you. The technological evolution of artillery during the 19th century forced the military authorities to review the defensive system at the national level. From then on, the defense of the territory was organized around a series of separate forts that crossed each other. Grenoble's defense, also linked to the creation of the new kingdom of Italy in 1861, was ensured by the forts of Saint-Eynard, Bourcet, Quatre-Seigneurs, Montavie, Mûrier and Comboire, to which were added several artillery batteries such as Quichat and Néron. The fort of St Eynard controlled the roads crossing the Chartreuse, thanks to 25 artillery pieces and a garrison of 477 men.

There was one in Oz, the Alex sawmill, which was destroyed in 1977 for the construction of the current dam. You follow an almost flat path linking the Rivier d'Allemont, a small village at the end of the Eau d'Olle valley, from where a pipe appears in places on the path. This pipe arrives at the old Verney factory. At the place known as the weir you cross the bridge and observe the mountain carved out by the waters. You go up into a mixed forest where many ungulates live: wild boar, deer, chamois, roe deer and ibex. This little frequented forest also sees the passage of the wolf, very present on the massif of Belledonne and Rissiou. From here to the top of the itinerary, be vigilant. Chamois and ibexes take advantage of these quiet places to move upstream; it is not uncommon for them to move stones, and for them to fall! Stay on your guard, listen carefully for the sound of falling rocks.
