From the small city of character you will survey the surrounding countryside to discover all along the route viewpoints, heritage, orchards and a return to the village along the Dropt.

Leaving from Allemans-du-Dropt, Loop 2 is linked to the Vallée du Dropt cycle route, allowing you to discover the villages and architectural and natural heritage on the hillsides overlooking the area. The route is signposted in both directions, allowing you to set off from any of the villages. The route is on roads only. Enjoy the ride!

The route starts from the parking lot at Place de la Mairie in Allemans-du-Dropt. You can also join the route from Moustier, La Sauvetat-du-Dropt, Roumagne or Puysserampion.

At the beginning of the circuit, there are woods and meadows, then little by little the vineyards of the Côtes de Duras appear. As you pass through Eybrou, a winery offers a visit and tasting in a cellar. The return journey is via the Escourroux lake. The northern part is small and wild, while the southern part offers excellent conditions for observation during the autumn bird migration. The water level is very low, so you can see all the shorebirds of the region and some rare species such as the red knot or the stagnatile sandpiper. Osprey and Terns are also regular visitors.

Starting from the promontory village of Soumensac, this circuit descends into the Malromé valley, and passes successively through the villages of Saint-Jean-de-Duras and Pardaillan. You will discover the churches of Soumensac and Pardaillan, the latter being slightly off the beaten track, as well as its small village which was built in the Middle Ages around the feudal castle built on the rocky spur overlooking the valley of the Malromé stream. Saint-Jean-de-Duras is located in the Côtes de Duras vineyards and includes part of the old 13th century ramparts of the fortified town of Soumensac, which was part of the village before the French Revolution. Depending on the season, this route will allow you to admire the majestic hot-air balloons rising above the Côtes de Duras vineyards. You can also take part in a trip over the world.

From the Soumensac promontory, this loop descends first to the Marsalou forest, then into the Bois de Manon. From the hamlet of Serres the uninterrupted climb leads back to Soumensac.

On the place called Platier, near Duras, the house of the Donnadieu family in which Marguerite, her mother and her two brothers Pierre and Paul lived after the death of the father, from 1922 to 1924 and then for a few months in 1931 when the estate was sold. In 1943, Marguerite Donnadieu published her first novel in Paris and adopted Marguerite Duras as her name. Titled LES IMPUDENTS, this first novel Marguerite Duras set it in the site of Platier: the house, the park, the Dropt, the peasant life of the time. An old rose enthusiast welcomes you to her garden where you can admire more than three hundred old roses, English, multiflora, mixed with a large number of perennials, irises, daylilies, geraniums ... As well as rare trees and shrubs. In 2021, Mireille's garden was awarded the label Jardin Remarquable, a recognition for the work accomplished for several years. The garden is an arrangement of flowerbeds enhanced by large grassed passages Pergolas where roses and clematis intertwine around an old farmhouse. 30 km from Marmande, between Duras and Miramont-de-Guyenne, come and discover the Romanesque church dedicated to Saint-Eutrope (Bishop of Saintes, martyred in the 3rd century). You'll find listed frescoes from the late 15th and early 16th centuries depicting the Passion of Christ, the Last Judgment and Hell. Visits are free every day, with an explanatory manual, or can be guided on request. Permanent exhibition of an important 17th-century painting, recently rediscovered, depicting Christ at the tomb. It is listed in the archives of the town hall, and is part of the Monuments Historiques inventory. One of the finest paintings in Lot-et-Garonne.
