The 9.4 km route from Magnac-Laval to Luchapt (in the commune of Droux) via Le Dorat is the first section of the Voie Verte du Haut Limousin. This route in the heart of the Limousin countryside is suitable for all types of soft mobility, including walking, cycling and horse-riding. Its surface enables a wide range of people to enjoy a safe walk. It's just as suitable for sports enthusiasts and hikers as it is for families with children in baby carriages, the mobility-impaired and the elderly. This section is also part of the d'Artagnan equestrian route, well known to horse riders.

Starting out from the village of Rancon, you can observe the 12th-century Lanterne des morts (lantern of the dead) on the site of the old cemetery, which was used to keep watch over the dead. The botanical trail of the three mills offers a 6km nature walk. The trail was created in 2022 by CE1-CE2 and CM1-CM2 pupils from Rancon elementary school, together with their teachers and a forestry professional. The trail runs alongside the Gartempe River in a "Natura 2000" listed site (Gartempe valley) and allows visitors to discover different species of trees, shrubs and plants (51 in total). These are presented on small panels all along the trail. A small guide is available from the Rancon town hall for further information. An easy hike, ideal for the whole family!

The Gîte is located in a quiet village in the Haut Limousin region, 300m from local shops (bakery-pastry shop, butcher's, restaurant, café, pharmacy...). The Gartempe Valley is 3km away, offering hiking and mountain-biking trails, and canoeing at the Gorges de l'Enfer. Within a 20km radius, you can visit Le Dorat (small town of character), Bellac (historic district and Vincou valley) and Montmorillon (Cité de l'écrit). A little further afield are Mortemart and the Monts de Blond, the village of Oradour sur Glane, and the Val de Vienne motor racing circuit, with Limoges and Poitiers 60km away. The Gîte is a detached house with a fully enclosed garden, terrace and bike/motorcycle storage. Equipped kitchen, one bedroom with a 160x200 bed and a shower cubicle, the other bedroom with a 140x190 bed and a 90x190 bed.

The gîte is located in a quiet, leafy hamlet, and is the starting point for a number of signposted hiking trails. It's an old renovated house, combining the old and the new, with a fully-equipped kitchen for optimum comfort.

The 13th century Fraisse was a "noble dwelling" of which almost nothing remains today. It was burnt down in 1356 by the famous Black Prince, then rebuilt after the Hundred Years War by Sieur Jacques des MONSTIERS. It is the "old castle" of the 15th century forming the right part of the complex of buildings. The main part of the 16th century, of Renaissance type, has a beautiful Henri II staircase, the great hall with its S.Serlio fireplace whose band represents the Fraisse of the 16th century. The B&B is ideally located on the edge of the village center. Shops and services a 5-minute walk away, train station 10 minutes. The guest rooms are on the 2nd floor and have been recently refurbished, with new bathrooms and a room equipped with fridge, kettle, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities. The breakfast room with sitting area (sofa and TV) is on the ground floor, and includes a continental breakfast with bread and pastries from the local bakery. One bedroom for 3 people with a single bed and a double bed (160x200cm), another bedroom with 2 single beds and a double bed.

Just 20 minutes from Confolens, a renowned world dance and music festival, and 20 minutes from Mortemart, one of France's most beautiful villages, at the junction of the Vienne, Charente and Haute-Vienne departments, on an 80-hectare estate of meadows and woods where sheep are raised, the totally independent house, located on the farm, opens onto an enclosed lawn at the rear. Small 3 x 2 m above-ground pool, 0.60 m deep, and trampoline. A path passes close to the gîte and provides a beautiful walk on the property where deer and hinds have also made their home, and it's not uncommon to observe or hear them from the gîte.

Living soil market gardening, where the soil is kept to a minimum with simple aeration of the soil and the addition of organic matter ranging from compost to manure and hay to cover the soil and feed it while reducing the emergence of weeds. The production of vegetables is therefore based on a philosophy that seeks to get closer to the natural processes that can be observed. The aromatic and medicinal plants are mainly sold fresh, with a project to sell herbal teas in 2023.

Le site Natura 2000 couvre une superficie de 3563ha comprenant la Vallée de la Gartempe de ses sources au département de la Vienne et celles de certains affluents : la Brame, la Glayeule, l'Ardour, le Rivalier, les petits affluents en amont de la Gartempe. Ce site présente une grande diversité écologique ; il recèle 10 milieux naturels et 20 espèces considérés comme rares et menacés à l'échelle européenne (saumon atlantique, lamproie marine, crapaud sonneur à ventre jaune...). Certains bourgs prestigieux ont vu le jour le long des rives de la tumultueuse Gartempe, et des sentiers de randonnée permettent de découvrir autant les espaces naturels que les moulins et villages.
