Departure from the Sourigous base, circuit allowing you to discover the hillsides of Salvagnac by technical paths, leading you to the valley of the Vère and the forest of Sivens.

This is an ideal trail to admire the small local heritage. Stone and terracotta farms, sun-drenched hills, welcome to a haven of peace and quiet, ideal for discovering mountain biking.

In the Pays Salvagnacois, between vineyards and groves, the paths run alongside stone and terracotta farmhouses. Further up, on the heights of Sivens, they become forest paths, leading you to panoramic views over the Tescou valley. Salvagnac, an ancient fortified village, is home to the castle towers (14th-15th centuries), Notre-Dame church and its treasure trove of sacred art, including a processional cross dating from 1514, and frescoes by Nicolaï Greschny (mid-20th century). In this land of cultivated fields, preference is given to traditional cereals, including wheat. Planted on the hillsides of the Tarn, it provides millers with pure flour for making Lo Cantél, a recipe based on traditional practices that produces a soft, crusty loaf with a melting creamy crumb.

The GR de Pays Salvagnacois trail offers you a 31 kilometre stage between Salvagnac and Laval. You will be immersed in a calm and welcoming countryside on sunny hillsides and green valleys on either side of the Tescou.

Close to the Grésigne forest, the Mespel path follows the shapes of the arid hills and allows you to discover the diversity that makes this region so rich. Natura 2000 area. After leaving the Vère valley, the rock shelters at Larroque surprise hikers and give them access to the Mespel limestone plateau with its holm oaks, filaria and pistachio trees. From the path, hikers have a view of the medieval village of Puycelsi. Larroque offers a shady and picturesque stop-off in a green setting, beside the river, at the foot of a pink limestone cliff with natural caves. It's on the path that the old Puycelsiens (inhabitants of Puycelsi) used to visit the Roucanels (inhabitants of Larroque) that the hiker sets off. Views of the Grésigne national forest and the 13th-century Notre-Dame des Bois chapel (20-minute round trip from Mespel). Legend has it that on two occasions the materials used to build the chapel in the hamlet were found in its present location.

Puycelsi is like an outpost of the Quercy Causses. The crossing of the village reveals architectural treasures. The route is dedicated to the cause of plants, from the Conservatory orchard to the ancestral vaults of the Grésigne oak groves. The great forest of Grésigne: Spread over 3526 hectares, the Grésigne forest remains today the most important forest of the Tarn and the largest oak forest (60% sessile oak, 15% pedunculate oak) of the south of France... Because no one has failed to exploit it extensively over the centuries. Its use in regulated felling dates back to François I, who authorised the felling of 150 trees per year to transform them into staves for barrels. In the 17th century, Jean-Baptiste Colbert had it used for the framework of Louis XIV's ships. The glassmakers threw it ashore to fuel their furnaces and make a fine, bluish glass whose formula was lost. The charcoal burners cut the wood to produce charcoal, and the local residents used it for heating.

Facing the ramparts of Puycelsi, an orchard unlike any other welcomes and carefully preserves the most hardy species of fruit and vines... A true genetic reservoir and precious guardian of forgotten flavours. The conservatory of ancient fruit species and vines: They were known in the past and the countryside was full of them in their orchards, but today, a certain number of fruit and vine varieties are disappearing. This is why the Department of the Tarn created the conservatory in 1986. The actions carried out aim to implement the environmental policy linked to the preservation of biological diversity and are part of a sustainable development approach. The collection plots, installed on 6 ha, house varieties of apple trees, pear trees, plum trees, cherry trees, peach trees and old local and regional vines that are under threat. Currently, more than 800 fruit tree introductions and 102 varieties for a total of 4,000 trees and 550 vines are planted. The conservatory's mission is to safeguard this biological heritage, to identify it, to evaluate it and to develop it on an educational, economic and scientific level.

Small Italian theater with 550 seats, nestled in the heart of the city ... A first room preceded the current building, the city having built in 1792 a space until then dedicated to the game of palm to turn it into a theater. In the face of popular success, it soon proved too small. The architect Fragneau was then commissioned to rebuild it: he endowed the new building with a neoclassical facade all brick, crowned with a large triangular pediment. The capacity of the new hall, opened in 1849, was 528 spectators spread over four levels. Access was then through the rue de la Comedie, inconvenient because narrow. This situation will last until 1931. Thanks to the subsidies paid by the City of Paris to rebuild Montauban after the terrible floods of March 1930, a new facade was built, opening on the place Lefranc de Pompignan built in the late nineteenth century .
