Easy family hike, accessible to all. A balcony path offers plunging views over the Eygues valley. Do not miss: a visit to the ruins of the Benedictine Priory, founded in 988, a Romanesque building (guided tours in summer). From the village square, take the small road direction "Mange-Fève" (D 425). Take the 1st right at the next crossroads. At the Calvary (733 m), follow the small road to the left for about 600 m; then take the track on the right. 150 m later, take the left track (after "Font Giraud"). Continue on this path ignoring the tracks to the right. The path becomes a balcony path. Arriving at the ridge (Serre de Bout - 897 m), follow it to the right (steep passage), to reach the heights. The trail goes down parallel to the ridge below it, on the right. Arriving downhill, turn left towards the relay antenna. Follow the track on the right to go back to your starting point.

An easy familial stroll for everyone. A mountain trail will let you have a view overlooking the valley of Eygues before going up 50 m on the Serre de Bout. A beautiful ridge trail will take you back to the start in an oak and pine forest. Starting point at Saint André de Rosans' village square. The path follows a small road toward "Mange Fèves" (D425) and quickly take the first right. At the calvary, take the small road on the left... ... then exit it on the right path (toward Serre de Bout). After the "Font Giraud" house, follow the path on the left and proceed forward (ignore the trails on the right). This path becomes a smaller trail, and will proceed toward mountain paths giving you a view overlooking Eygues. At the ridge, go right until reaching the Serre de Bout. You will have to go through a difficult part through rocky area, thankfully it is very short. This trail follow the ridge below on the right until a relay mast. After reaching the relay, turn right to get back to the starting path. Retrace your stps until Saint André, where you can visit the old priory from the 12th century.

A short round hike, to reach the top of Risou, sentinel of the Rosan’s area. The trail is steep, but the view rewards all the effort! A few days a year, the light crosses the mountain through a hole in the rock. In Palluel, the path starts to the right of a small valley, in the undergrowth, then climbs  steeper and winds through a forest of Scots pines. The climb becomes more and more rocky and straight and leads to a first rocky plateau. The trail continues with a short passage requiring a stairway climb to quickly reach the plateau. The biotope changes little by little, the pines give way to downy oaks and boxwood. Enjoy the landscape,  it  justifies alone all the efforts of the climb. Arrived at the Chapelle Saint-Jean, it is possible to go further by continuing on the ridge; enjoy the best panorama that this mythical summit offers. The same path brings you back to your starting point.

A short round trip up to the Risou's summit, which lets you observe the whole area of Rosans. The trail is steep, but the view is worth your while ! A few days per year, light goes through a mountain by a hole in the stones. At Palluel, the trail starts to the right of a small valley, in an underwood area, the first part is a bit winding. As soon as you arrive at the first hunter's stop, the trail gets straighter then more rocky. A short path requires you to climb up a step before reaching the plateau. From there, you can fully take in the landscape, which is worth all the efforts needed to get up. Arrival at the Saint Jean Chapel. The return trip is by the same road. Take your time to go back down, as it can be as difficult as going up...

D'une centaine de kilomètres, cette boucle sportive Drômoise propose une découverte variée des Baronnies Provençales. Elle passe par plusieurs cols dont celui de Perty et sa magnifique route en lacets bordée de tilleuls. De mi-juin à mi-août, quand les champs de lavande sont en pleine floraison, c'est une escapade enivrante avec du violet à perte de vue qui attend les cyclotouristes. Depuis Rosans, rejoindre la D 994 en contrebas du village, se diriger direction Verclause et les gorges de l'Eygues. En arrivannt au niveau de La Combe, bifurquer à gauche et entammer l'ascension du  col de Soubeyrand sur 8 km (pente constante supérieure à 6 % avec des passages à plus de 9 %). Continuez vers Bellecombe-Tarendol puis Saint Sauveur Gouvernet. Passer le col de Peyruergue 6 km plus loin. Au croisemenent, prendre la D 546 pendant 1,5 km puis la D 65, en direction du Moulin de Montguers. De Ruissas, poursuivre l'ascension du col de Perty par une route en épingles sur 9 km. Depuis le Col de Perty,  descendre sur 8 km. Tourner à gauche, avant le village de Laborel et prendre la direction de Villebois les Pins par le col de Pierre Vesce (D 65b). A Villebois les Pins, poursuivre à gauche et passer le col du Reychasset (1052 m). Rejoignez ensuite Chauvac. A la sortie du village, prendre la D 116 jusqu'au Moulin de Mange Fêve Regagner Rosans par l'Aubergerie.

The story began in 988 with the founding of Saint André de Rosans Priory on the site of a previous, so-called primitive church. It was on these foundations that the first church of the Benedictine priory would be built in the 11th century. The church was than altered and extended in the course of the 12th century.

Located in the Moydans area, the Risou Mountain is made up of a steep relief that makes it standout from the landscape. The rock wall at its top stands out as well as its visible ridge.

From the heights of the Risou Mountain, an exceptional panorama emerges over the entire Rosanais valley. The various surrounding villages such as Rosans, Moydans, Ribeyret and l'Épine as well as the surrounding mountains can be seen.

On this side of the Serre de l'Aigle exposed to the adret, the forest is held back by an ovine pasture allowing to keep open environments. The fence along the trail testifies that the herds of sheep that graze in this moor are not here in summer, but that the breeder probably leads them all year round, as long as there is grass: The challenge is that the animals feed well but that the grass resource also persists.

Mentioned since 988, Rosans and its church of Saint-Arey certainly look different today, but their antiquity is real. To the west of the village is the Oche district, which is a Gallic name for a cleared area on the outskirts of the village. A "large meadow" and an "orchard", to the west and east show what type of agricultural valuation existed in the Middle Ages. To the east of the village, the clayey hillock of Saint Esteve seems to indicate Saint-Etienne, a long-forgotten church.

Colonized by the Romans in 118 BC., Provence was divided into cities. For the Baronnies, Vaison and Luc-en-Diois were the two capitals of the Voconces city which dominated the region. Within these, there were divisions called "pagus" (lands). This latin term lasted for a long time and, in 988, a donation charter to the abbey of Cluny of Saint-André de Rosans, evoked the "Pagus Rosanensis". Some names of places were already mentioned, such as Rosans, Chapaïsses, Sironne or Roussieux.

The square tower, located in the center of the medieval village of Rosans, dates from the 12th century. The walls are made of diamond-cut stone blocks, four meters thick, and each face looks at one of the four cardinal points, so that when three of its sides are in the shade, it marks the hour of noon. This tower, wrongly called "Tour Sarrasine" is not an example of the Moorish architecture in the South of France. The building is listed as a historical monument since 1932.

It is estimated that the village of Rosans was founded in the 8th century after the passage of the Lombards and the Sarasins. From the top of its small hill, the village has a good monitoring capacity and a defensive advantage. A rampart that we still use to reach the heart of Rosans, surrounded the village. In the 14th century, the village was invaded by the Provençaux but resisted thanks to its garrison and its ramparts.

Around the Estang valley, there are many names of places that are linked to water. "L'estang" (étang means pond in French) lets you guess the presence of a pond that probably used to be landscaped, but that has long since dried up. The "font du Roure" reminds us that, in Provençal, "font" means "source" and not fountain. And "roure" means “oak”. The "Grand Raille" is the river at the bottom of the valley, while the "Esserennes" designates a remote place (from the village) where there would be water.

The Serre de l'Aigle path offers beautiful views of the Eygues forest and the village of Rosans. From there, a splendid  panorama on the Rosanais valley is revealed, delimited by the Charrancs mountain in the East.
