Montée vers les sous bois et la piste forestiere. Signs : Yellow and Sheep pictogram From the parking lot along the river, first admire the marble sculptures, then immediately turn right up "Rue des Ecoles" and then "Avenue Jean Jaurès" towards Carcassonne. Before the petrol station, turn right onto "rue du Château d'Eau" and go up towards the water tank. Continue on the forest track and as you go up, much higher up and to the right, there is a dry stone enclosure and some huts and an ancient marble quarry. Go up to Villegause, on the right an old sheepfold dominates the landscape. Just after, leave the track and take a path on the right through a nice oak wood. Arriving on a promontory, a panoramic view awaits you: below , the Argent-Double river flows peacefully and just in front of you stands proudly the "Roc de Moussu" (539 m). To the left, you will see the hamlet of Montbonous and to the right the village of Caunes-Minervois. Carry on downhill, crossing the stream of "Plô de la Bonnette" and then, further down, the stream of "Combe du Roudet".  Once on the track, turn right towards "Bibaud". Go over the bridge, cross the D 620 and go up the hill. At the crossroads, turn right and follow the signs for Caunes-Minervois. When you arrive in the village, cross the D115 and take the street "Plô de la Sal" opposite. The signs will lead you back to the Europe parking lot through the pretty little streets of this medieval village.

You will find marble all along the circuit leading to the” Carrière du Roy” or kings quarry from where the columns of the Trianon were extracted. Very beautiful panorama on the Pyrenees on a clear day. Plunging view on the Argent-Double river and the Cros. Signs: Yellow markings topped with 3 yellow squares Departure from the parking lot "esplanade de l'Europe", go up the ramp that leads to the avenue de l'Argent Double, cross the bridge and go up the avenue du Minervois. After the lavoir, turn left on chemin du Cros, follow for about 800m/2625ft. (You can also join this point by walking throught the picturesque village streets). At the top of the road, on the right side of the hill, there is a calvary surmounted by an iron cross. Turn left onto the path joining the service road called "Allée des Carrières". Turn right and continue in the direction of the parking lot of the Carrière du Roy then continue straight ahead following the signs. There, a small undergrowth path leads to the edge of the historic quarry where the majestic columns come from. At the bottom of the stairs, turn left towards Caunes-Minervois and Citou in the direction of a small hill in the shade of the vegetation, very appreciable in summer. At the Capitelle, on the left, go down the track to enjoy the exceptional view of the Aude valley. Turn right at the parking lot, then after 150m/490ft, at the level of the sculpture "La Pétale", turn left. Take the same path going down towards the Calvary and begin the return journey towards the village of Caunes-Minervois.

From the top of this headland, the view embraces a magnificent landscape formed by the Aude valley, the reliefs of the Minervois up to the borders of the Montagne Noire. Signs: Yellow markings topped by a circle of the same colour From the “Place du 14 Juillet” square take the rue de la Mairie, pass under the railway line and take the Côte à Cailloux (steep pebble path), a medieval track. Place de l'Eglise, take the rue du Carrayrat then turn left on rue de la Faichette. Turn right on rue de Miramont and follow the chemin de la Tuilerie to leave the village. Pass under the highway and turn right for about 200m/656ft. Turn left, then right, on a slightly steep path lined with low walls. Follow the Chemin du four à Chaux up to the parking lot of the plant nursery. Cross the D8008 and follow the path to the plant nursery for 200m/656ft. Turn right onto the Pas de Roland path, then a few dozen meters further on, this will take you to a viewpoint overlooking the Aude valley, the Minervois relief as far as the edge of the Montagne Noire. Carry on along  the path up to the "departmental" road. At this point, turn left for about 600m/1970ft. At the track intersection, turn left and go down the path on 200m/656ft. You are on the site of the remains of the Miramont castle. Then carry on going down by the same route towards the plant nursery, turn right to reach the village by taking the departmental road D8008 through the farmstead "metairie" towards the village.

The old "Moux/Caunes-Minervois" railway line has been converted into a hiking trail between Puichéric and Caunes Minervois linking six villages from the plain to the foothills.It is a transverse axis that provides access to other hiking loops. Signs: Yellow and Green markings (white background) Start at the foot of the church in front of the Jardin de la Paix, where the sign indicating the “Chemin vert” line connecting Puichéric to Caunes-Minervois is located.  Take the street named "L. Pasteur" up to the roundabout in front of the town hall (former train station). Take the 5th street on the right and go past the municipal buildings to join the old railway line. Cross the iron bridge over the Canal du Midi and carry on along the paved road for about 1.5km/0.9mi and then on a tarred road to the village of La Redorte. At the entrance of the village, turn right onto the D72. Before the bridge, on the right-hand side, go down the small pedestrian crossing then go under the bridge and cross the Port de la Fabrique until you see the Chemin Vert information panel. Continue on Avenue du Port, turn right just before the iron bridge on the Roman road. At the crossroads with the D11, turn left and 30m/100ft further on turn right onto the old railway line. Then turn left on avenue Jean Jaurès, go past the community centre and continue until you reach the Place de l'Eglise. Turn right on avenue du Languedoc for about 150m/500ft and opposite the entrance to the underpass of the Château de La Redorte, turn right via the alley of plane trees and cross the Saint-Georges bridge over the river "l'Argent Double". Just after the demolished bridge, turn left to go alongside and take the old railway line. At the junction with the D72, turn right for 200m/650ft until the crossroads. Turn left for about 250m/820ft (on the left there is the old Azille train station). At the junction with the rue de la Restanque, go past the Chemin Vert information panel and continue upwards. While following the signs, at the crossroads turn left in the direction of the Place aux Herbes. Cross it, continue on rue du Commerce and immediately on the right, take rue de la Poste. Arriving on the Allées Pol Lapeyre, turn left and continue your walk on the Allées de la République until you reach the Place César Franck (famous composer). Turn right and walk down the rue du Théron and just before the demolished bridge, go up the embankment on the right to find the old railway. At the crossroads with the tarred road, continue straight ahead in the direction of the D206 and cross it. Leave the château de Floris (private estate) on the left. Cross the iron bridge over the Canet stream and enjoy this section of the trail, surrounded by pine trees and vines. At the concrete path, turn right, go up for 100m/320ft then turn left , and continue on the path until you reach the intersection with a small tarred road. The markings will take you over the small culvert to the Chapelle du Bout du Pont and the information panel of the Chemin Vert de Rieux-Minervois. Cross the bridge over the Argent-Double river, go straight ahead on rue Notre-Dame. Turn left on rue du Barry (ramparts on the left) then right up rue Saint Blaise (on the right the Saint Blaise tower). Go past the Tourist Information Center and the Sainte-Marie heptagonal church. In front of the town hall, on the left place du Général Bousquet then on the right on avenue Louis Cros D11. At the post office, go into the rue du Château and opposite the school, take the rue du Moulin towards the boulodrome (boules/pétanque sports ground). Continue straight ahead, go along the distillery and continue in the direction of the village of Peyriac-Minervois where you will find the Chemin Vert information panel at the entrance. Continue straight ahead, rue de la porte rouge and at the crossroads, turn right and go down rue des Tonneliers until you reach Place de la Libération. Continue on the borders of the river "l' Argent Double". At the crossroads, take the rue des Mauves opposite and then the chemin des Prades. Next intersection, turn left for 200m/650ft then right. At the end of the tarmac road, in the middle of the vineyards, take the dirt track on your left and leave the private estate of Pautard on your right. Arriving on an olive tree alley, turn left towards the water tower, then straight ahead and leave the hamlet Tinal d'Abrens (commune of Laure-Minervois) on your left. Continue the hike until you reach the old railway line. At the level of the culvert, take the dirt track on the right along a tree hedge. Once you have passed the recycling centre, go into the pine alley. Cross the D115 and continue straight ahead on the old railway line in the direction of Caunes-Minervois. In the trading estate, join the D115, turn left for about 300m/985ft and you will arrive at the old railway station at the end of the Chemin Vert.
